Bookbinding and notebook making at Interesting 2011

We’re going to be running a session at Interesting this year.  We hope to get all 200 attendees bookbinding and making a notebook in about 30 minutes.

Here’s an excerpt from Russell Davies, the man responsible for gently gluing the event together:

I’ve booked the Conway Hall. Interesting 2011 will be Saturday the 18th of June. But I think this time it’ll be a bit different.

BoringPlayful and The Story are all now much better ‘people talking about stuff’ events than Interesting. Better curation. Better organisation. Better names. And I don’t want to organise something similar but not as good.

After canceling Interesting last year we eventually rushed together a last minute Papercamp. And it was great fun. Less listening to talks, more doing stuff. Less yammering, more hammering. (Though quite a lot of wondering around chatting to people while doing the stuff)

So, this year it’s going to be more about activities than talks. And it’s going to be divided into sections run by different people.

Having taken part in previous interestings (Welcome to Mars and this audio collage I played a small part in), I’m very excited about this one, especially as we’re going to making and doing a load of stuff.

We’ve got People Who Do supporting us by paying for most of the paper, card, thread and needles.  And, Whitelines, makers of cool notebooks, are supplying some of their special paper for people to use in the books they are going to make.

The books are going to be A6 in size, so, if you have any cool, interesting, strange A5 paper (you can bring bigger, it will just take time to chop it down), make sure you bring it along.
